As Schmooz approaches its first year anniversary, I have some major checking in to do, and some big decisions ahead. Which direction do I want to take my business in? What should I be measuring and looking for? While I pride myself on being able to help other companies get clear about their goals, applying the same thing to yourself isn't always as easy. Here are some of the questions that I ask my clients...that I am now going to ask to myself.
Alright Zoe, here are your questions:
1. If you invest money into your company, what are the reasons you are doing it? Do you want more leads or clients? Do you want to become an influencer in the business world and improve your engagement and reach? Do you want both?
2. Once you decide what your area of focus is, how are you going to put your goals into measurable and implementable steps?
3. What's your timeline and what's manageable? It's great to say you want to double in size by Year Two, but do you have the system in place to do this? Does growing mean you have to make compromises in your personal life? Is it worth it?
4. What do your current social media analytics tell you about your current market, your demographics and your potential in the marketplace?
5. What do you want in 5 years? Will this next step help you to get there?
What I realize as I write these questions... is that I already know a lot of the answers! (What a relief!) I am investing in my company and in being the best Schmoozer I can be (Announcements coming soon!), I do want to grow, and I have built a team that is ready to take on more work. I know that for a Social Media company, Schmooz Social Media could be a lot better, but I also know that I am proud that my time and resources to date have gone into making sure that my clients have the best work we can do. Putting my clients first has been, what I believe, a big part of my success this year.
Building a business isn't always easy or straightforward, but it's exciting. I love seeing the success of my clients, and I am so proud of what I have accomplished in less than a year.I want to see more in Year 2, I want to share more with you in Year 2, and I want to be true to my vision. Writing this blog actually helped me a great deal, so thanks readers!
I look forward to checking in with you as my next steps become more clear - and as always, the Schmooz Team would love to join you on your journey to building your business.
Have a Schmooztastic Day!
- Zoe, Chief Executive Schmoozer
