Often times, when women become mothers, beauty regimes and fashionista wardrobes are relegated to the back burner. As many of you have already discovered, being a parent is a 24 hour job. Today's feature, Lauren, mother of two, Younique Make-Up Presenter and Zumba Instructor Extraordinaire, has created a schedule through which she can balance being a full-time parent to her two children and have a job on the side that she loves. Moreover, through her work, Lauren exudes her love and positivity about life, connecting with family and friends and helping women feel beautiful in their skin.
Lauren always had a passion for makeup and enjoyed experimenting with different brands, colours and textures. “When a friend from New Jersey sent me a selfie featuring her beautiful eyelashes, crediting a new mascara she was using, I couldn’t wait to try it out.” Unfortunately she discovered it was only sold through online Younique dealers, which wasn’t her usual method of purchasing makeup.
It wasn’t long before she encountered those sassy lashes again, when Lauren was attending her nephew’s Little League game and overheard a woman talking about that same amazing Mascara. “She was a presenter for Younique and happened to have some mascara in her car. My mother, sister, and I all bought some. After hearing so much about this product, we couldn’t wait to try it ourselves.”
An instant fan of the makeup, Lauren has since started selling the Younique line of beauty products to family and friends, although she is amazed at how little selling she actually has to do as the product essentially sells itself. As part of her marketing effort, Lauren created “Lauren’s Sassy Lashes”, a Facebook page where she is constantly posting videos and photos of the remarkable results that the mascara and other amazing Younique skin care and makeup products produce.
Lauren’s friends and family love watching the videos as much as she enjoys creating them; they give her the opportunity to stay in touch with people she otherwise wouldn’t have the time to on a regular basis. “The Facebook page also allows me to connect with people with the same interests as mine. I feel empowered when I take this time to make myself feel and look good and get excited that the women I share my tips with might feel this same way too.”
The internet-oriented Younique business model is a win-win situation for Lauren. Why? “For one thing, I consider myself to be a mascara connoisseur so it’s the perfect fit for me,” explains Lauren. “Also, the hours are flexible so it doesn’t take time away from my family.” she continues. “Because this company exclusively sells their products through the use of social media, it allows me to work and connect on my Lauren’s Sassy Lashes page (on Facebook) after the kids have gone to bed. I get commission on the sales I make and also get discounts on products I would otherwise be buying.”
We don’t know about you, but we think Lauren’s a pretty amazing lady! What does Lauren’s family think? “My kids get a good laugh [and with reason, the videos are so fun!] out of the videos I make demonstrating all of the products I’m selling. They know playing with makeup makes me happy and they enjoy watching me share the love.”
