Spring has (finally!) sprung in Toronto, and after a not-so-cold but definitely very grey winter, we’re ready to show our love for the city’s spring bounty on social media. We’ve shared with you some strategic examples of how to use Instagram in this blog, and while sharing your love for spring may not seem strategic, it does come with its benefits.
Similar to re-vamping your wardrobe, your Instagram account is an extension of your brand. What you post says a lot about your interests and priorities, and ultimately your values. Showing your love for the city at its most beautiful is a great (and fun!) way to impress your followers with your knowledge of the city’s natural charm.
Additionally, by geo-tagging popular areas in Toronto, you will expose your content to a wider audience. So what are you waiting for? Go exploring and share!
Here are Schmoozer’s top 5 places to capture Toronto’s great outdoors and create compelling content for Instagram:
1. Trinity Bellwoods Park
A mainstay of millennials, artists and hipsters, you’ve likely seen images of this park on Instagram before. Trinity Bellwoods features an off-leash dog park, tennis courts, a baseball diamond and plenty of green space. Grab a coffee at nearby Nadège, a book at Type and take a lazy stroll through one of the city’s most popular inner-city parks.
2. Scarborough Bluffs
The Scarborough Bluffs is an escarpment along the shoreline of Lake Ontario. The Bluffs include 16 parks that expand for roughly 15 kilometres North through the region. There’s a lot to take in, but Schmoozers recommend checking out the Cathedral Bluffs for their picture-perfect rock faces.
3. Allan Gardens
This location isn’t technically an outdoor one, but it will definitely get your followers in the spring spirit. The highlight of this park (aside from the dog park) is the conservatory, which houses rare tropical plants from around the world. It’s an Instagramer’s dream!
4. High Park Cherry Blossoms
Originally a gift from the Japanese ambassador to Canada in 1959, the cherry trees in High Park attract visitors from around Southern Ontario every year to bask in their lush, pink hues. But make sure you plan your visit ahead of time. The trees blossom in late April early May for about a week, so timing is everything.
5. Tommy Thompson Park and the Leslie Street Spit
Tommy Thompson Park is home to over 300 species of birds and a variety of other plants and animals. Located on a man-made peninsula that stretches 5 kilometres into Lake Ontario, this is the perfect place to escape the chaos of the city and retreat into a natural paradise. Not to mention take some enviable Instagram snaps!
