Are you the "expert" at anything? Have you spent over 10,000 hours piano practicing? Did you play College or University level sports? Do you speak 5 languages? Does it define you?
A few years ago, after reading Malcolm Gladwell's "Outliers," I found myself wondering if I would ever be called a Master. Would my hours, days, months and years of reading, writing and learning about people give me this title? Do I have enough hours to be considered an expert? Does it matter?
Now, as deemed by the University of Waterloo, I hold a Masters degree. I don't feel any differently with the title, other than feeling pride I feel for my education, my determination and my commitment to learning.
With every word I write, with every conversation I love and every book I read, I continue to grow and Schmooz continues to become a stronger business. In my personal life and in business, I will continue to commit myself to my best. I am confident that with a Masters designation or not, that passion and motivation can take people a long way. I have been fortunate enough to see many business owners with or without University degrees, find success.
What do you think? Is being an "expert" critical to your business? Does being a jack-of-all-trades make you successful?
