We understand that business can sometimes be pretty chaotic but we also strongly believe in taking time for yourself and picking up a book that can help you improve yourself and make managing your projects less stressful (Schmoozers love reading!). Here is a list of five awesome books that are meant to inspire and educate you on business tactics, self-love, and self-management. Enjoy!
1. Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy
This is the perfect read for anyone that finds difficulty in time and task management. Now that may seem ironic, seeing as though someone who has trouble managing probably wouldn’t have time to read a book but this is a quick and super accessible read and will teach 21 effective methods to overcome obstacles like procrastination to ultimately help you accomplish more. Check out Google Books to see what people are saying about it!
2. You don't Have to be a Shark: Creating your own Success by Robert Herjavec
Focussing on sales, this book shows you how you can depart from the normative notion of having an aggressive, pushy attitude and be a more honest and relaxed person. If you’ve every watched the show Shark Tank, you would know Robert Herjavec as the “Nice Shark,” and so his title for his book is just as fitting. He shares his honest and genuine approach to entrepreneurship as well as his success. Basically, if you’re uncomfortable with normative business attitudes, then Robert Herjavec is on your side and this book will help you stay in your comfort zone.
3. Our Turn by Kirstine Stewart
Kirstine Stewart is Twitter’s vice-president of North American media partnerships, and has recently made it on the list of Canadian Business’s Power 50 of 2016. Our Turn discusses Kirstine’s accomplishments and “helps other women discover their leadership potential.” Kirstine’s story is one that started from the bottom. Her story is inspiring to anyone that is trying to make it and break past social and gender barriers.
4. The Power of Habit: Why we do what we do in Life and Business by Charles Duhigg
Do you struggle with stubborn habits that seem be controlling your life and inhibiting progress? The Power of Habit explores why we have habits and how we can change them by taking control of our lives. Duhigg believes that the key to changing habits is to first understand them and so The Power of Habit explores human nature in pursuit of bringing about that change.
5. The Happiness Advantage: The 7 Principles of Positive Psychology that fuel success and Performance at Work By Shawn Achor
Amidst your daily routine and busy work schedule it becomes easy to forget about yourself and giving you the positive encouragement to keep you powering through your days. Happiness is commonly thought of as the product of success, however, The Happiness Advantage explores the recent study that the formula is backwards; happiness drives success. With that said, this book is great for the psychology of business people, and is geared to keeping you positive and putting your happiness first.
