5 Toronto Coffee Shops to Get Your Focus On!

Is your stress level at an all-time high? Even if it’s not, take your work away from your dingy desk and saddle up with a warm (or cool) perk at one of our very favourite trendy cafes!

I think I speak for all of us workaholics when I say that the work desk can sometimes feel brutal. I mean, sure, it’s the spot for when you’re on the grind and cramming for due dates, but a change of scenery (and smell) can truly lift the damper off working your brain and make it feel less like...well, working.

That’s why I’ve compiled this list of five coffee in shops Toronto, fully equipped with wifi, caffeine, sugar and good music, the perfect recipe for positive working. Make sure your tech batteries are charged (and bring your charger for good measure) and start exploring the city for your next Schmooz-tastic work session. Here we go!

Balzac’s Coffee Roasters

This Parisian-inspired cafe will make your feel like you’re spending an afternoon in France. With three locations across the downtown core, you’ll likely find a location that’s most convenient for you for your next work spot. Each location is decked out to the nines with artisanal Parisian-inspired decor providing you and your Instagram with some serious eye candy, not to mention their splendid brew! C’est fantastique!

Fika

Looking for a more quaint destination? Fika is an adorable cafe located in the delightful and historical Kensington Market. They have small 1-2 seater tables in the front with some comfy chairs. Or you can check out their large communal table in the back, perfect if you’re trying to find a good public place to work with a group. On beautiful days you can sit out in their back patio, which is equipped with more comfy chairs, a hammock and extended wifi. Their menu is small but they have some amazing concoctions. My favourite is the lavender white hot chocolate.

Jimmy’s Coffee

This destination choice is one to give your studying a little more sophistication and pizazz and will take away from the stress that comes with work. Jimmy’s Coffee makes an exquisite brew that I recommend you drink black (they know their coffee). They have three locations across Toronto from the West to the East side so you’ll likely find a convenient location to research, analyze and review in. Their interiors are exquisitely decorated with old-fashioned furniture, bookshelves, and fireplaces, making it a super comfy and relaxed environment.

Bulldog on the Block

Located in downtown Toronto (just a short walk from Wellesley Station) is Bulldog Coffee. With a small seating area, you won’t need to worry about too much noise distracting you… from your coffee! These baristas know what they’re doing, they make a mean (not grr!) cappuccino. For more of a pick-me-up, order your steamed milk drinks before 3pm for some colour in your coffee, this isn’t everyday though, so check their Instagram page to see when the baristas are are making them.

Rooster Coffee House

Rooster Coffee House overlooking Riverdale Park and and is my personal favourite study location. It may be a bit of a trek out of the city but if you’re up for the travel I promise you it’s worth it. It has big comfy chairs and they overlook the beautiful Riverdale Park, a breathtaking view. Try to get there around sunset so you can enjoy the scenery every time you look up from your books. If you’re not up for the trek, that’s okay too, they have two other locations at King and Ontario streets with the same atmosphere of good music, comfy chairs and amazing coffee!
