Social Media can be intimidating – with new platforms popping up every month, it can be difficult to figure out which would be best for your business and how to curate a presence on each one. Chances are, if you have company, you’ve been posting on some social media platforms for a while now. Most business owners start off as beginners and learn along the way. It’s never too late to learn! So if you’re looking for ways to freshen up your social media branding, check out our suggestions, like:

Written Consistency

Nowadays, there are several different social media platforms companies use to promote their business, each with their own set of criteria for what makes a successful post. For example, hashtags serve a greater purpose on Instagram and Twitter than Facebook. However, even though each platform is different, your message needs to be consistent. Make sure each social media platform you use has a bio, about us, and an image of your logo. Although each post may differ slightly for each platform, use the same brand voice as you have across your website to maintain a consistent brand image.

Visual Consistency

Just like your language needs to be consistent, so does your imaging. This is where it can be beneficial to spend some extra money on a Graphic Designer (or a company like Schmooz Media, which has many graphic designers available) to make your branding look sharp. A good designer will incorporate your logo, theme colors and brand into files you can use to really make your social media customized for you. Make sure to ask for branded graphics you can use for blogs, posts, FB banners and profile pictures.

Call to Action

Social media is about more than just spreading a message – you want your audience to interact with you! The best way to do this is to make sure each post includes a call to action. This could include many different things, but you want to make sure that you use language that makes the action compelling to your followers. Each action should serve a specific purpose; whether it’s to have your posts appear more often in a follower’s newsfeed or to drive traffic to your company website. And have fun with it! You could post an article and ask for their opinion or take a poll about a picture.

Tracking Sheet and Content Calendar

A great tip for social media marketing is to create a content calendar so you can track your posts. Taking a couple hours each month to plan out your content will make your social media management plan a lot easier to implement. So on days you’re just not feeling the inspiration, your post is already done – complete with hashtags. It also lets you view your posts at a glance, so you can make sure different type of posts are spread out. While written consistency is important, you want to make sure there is a variety of content each week to keep your followers engaged.
